In October 2010, we were awarded the tender for a concession to operate the Port of Iskenderun in Turkey. This marked Limak Investments’ entry into port operations.
Limak Investments expects to acquire the right to operate the port for a 36 year period starting from the effective date of delivery of the operation right in accordance with the Transfer of Operational Right Agreement which is to be signed with Turkish Privatization Administration and Turkish Republic State Railways. The Ports are one of the most important export and import gates of Turkey. Since sea ports represent one of Turkey’s most important export/import gateways, we believe that our involvement in port operations provides us with an opportunity to grow our range of activity. From a global perspective, engagement in the international port business also gives us an opportunity to participate in the growth of the global transportation and logistics industry.İskenderun Port serves the Çukurova, Southeast and East Anatolian regions, as well as transit traffic to the Middle East, such as to Syria, Iran and Iraq. The port is connected to trading centers by the national railway system and state highways.
Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Study is being undertaken related to the capacity expansion. As part of the ESIA process, Project information documents have been prepared and are now open to public. These documents can be reached by clicking iskenderunlimanicsed.
